About Us

Jóna Vestfjörð is an attorney at law with extensive experience  in relocation and immigration law. Her work has involved advising both individuals and employers across a wide range of industries and professions, including engineers, medical specialists, architects, contractors engaged in projects for foreign embassies and projects performed under defense agreements, as well as university lecturers and visiting professors. The breath of experience has provided Jóna with a strong understanding of the legal, practical and personal considerations that follow international relocation.

Jóna's experience is also personal. As the daugther of diplomats, she spent all her childhood moving between countries while her parents served in the foreign service and as Ambassadors abroad. In her adult life, she has likewise relocated internationally in connection with both her own career and her husband's work. This first- hand experience gives her particular insight into the realities of relocating for employment, including practical challenges that may arise during such circumstances.

Her legal advisory services extend well beyond immigration. Jóna provides strategic legal guidance on securing the appropriate work and residence permits based on the applicable legal framework applicable to each position. She also advises on related legal matters, such as taxation and tax residency, social security, family related issues and other practical aspects of establishing a life and work in Iceland.
